Adam Adamant

In 1902 gentleman adventurer Adam Adamant is betrayed by the beautiful Louise and he falls into the clutches of his arch-enemy, the Face, who condemns him to a living death by freezing him in a block of ice. Then, in 1966, a demolition squad uncovers Adam’s preserved body and he is taken to hospital. Confused and terrified by the sights and sounds of Sixties London, Adam escapes, and just as two villains are about to run him down, he is rescued by a teenage girl named Georgina Jones, who takes him to her flat. Meanwhile, the Face kidnaps the Home Secretary and offers to exchange him for Adam. Hearing the demand, Adam agrees to go to the rendezvous; he leaves for a regional seat of government where he is to meet a government agent named Mr Smith, who will give him the final details for the hand-over. Unknown to Adam, Georgina has hidden in his car. Adam deals with a fake chauffeur and then meets Mr Smith - who is revealed to be a woman and a double agent. Caught off guard, Adam is trapped, and when Georgina tries to warn the authorities she only succeeds in getting herself into trouble. Adam is tied to a conveyer belt that is moving towards an incinerator, but he uses a fire extinguisher to protect himself, and then hides inside the furnace while the villains bring in Georgina. A fight ensues: Adam defeats them and saves the Home Secretary, and when he confronts Mr Smith she chooses to commit suicide rather than face capture. The Face escapes to fight another day...
