When leaving a Chinese restaurant, Steed ‘accidentally’ claims the wrong coat from and finds a cheque for £5,000 drawn against a Hong Kong bank in one of the pockets. He and Mrs. Gale soon meet Mister Lo, a notorious, elusive gold smuggler, and an opportunity of finally catching him appears when Lo makes a personal visit to London in order to question one of his clients about a missing shipment of gold worth £10,000. The trail leads to a group of military misfits who are using the proceeds from the smuggling operation to support needy ex-servicemen, which poses an ethical dilemma for Steed and Mrs. Gale…
