People and objects such as limousines and armoured tanks are disappearing into thin air at an army base. Steed and Mrs. Peel arrive to investigate, and discover that Professor Rushton has developed a shrinking ray. But, his assistant, Chivers, is determined to use it for his own personal gain, planing to steal a brand new British Army tank by shrinking it with the Professor's ray and selling it to a foreign power. Chivers has already reduced Sir Gerald Bancroft in size, and then proceeds to shrink the security man, Gifford, and flush him down a garage drain. This go from bad to worse when Steed, stowing away in the tank, suddenly finds himself cut down to size…
