Batman Cast

Holy Secret Identities! The Penguin kidnaps Commissioner Gordon’s daughter, Barbara, planning to marry her and thereby gain immunity from the police by becoming Gordon's son-in-law. While the Dynamic Duo desperately attempt to locate the felonious fowl’s hideout, the Penguin's henchmen search for a minister to perform the ceremony; when they find the Reverend Hazlitt and Alfred, the trusty butler pretends that he is the minister, and, after alerting Batman and Robin using the Emergency Batcall on his belt, allows himself to be taken away by the thugs. Having traced the signal to a vacant apartment next door to Barbara's own flat, the Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder speed off to the hideout. Meanwhile, the Penguin has locked Barbara and Alfred in one of the rooms; believing Alfred to be a real minister, Barbara swears him to secrecy, steps out of the window, walks along the precarious ledge and into her apartment - where she activates a secret panel and changes into the costume of Batgirl. Batman and Robin arrive at the apartment, only to be confronted by the Penguin and his Finks; as a fight breaks out Batgirl appears and joins the Dynamic Duo in battle. Having overpowered the villains, Batgirl leaves - so that she can rejoin Alfred, who has guessed her secret identity - while Batman and Robin attempt to free their butler. However, the Penguin knocks them out using Penguingas, and then takes the duo, Alfred, and what he believes to be Barbara, but which is actually a wedding dress stuffed with pillows, back to another of his hideouts. While Batgirl follows on her Batgirlcycle, the Penguin decides to drop the Dynamic Duo into a huge vat of boiling water so that he can steam them alive…

Bat-Notes:
*Featuring Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman), Dick Grayson (a.k.a. Robin), Alfred Pennyworth, Aunt Harriet Cooper, Police Commissioner Gordon and Police Chief O’Hara, and introducing Barbara Gordon (a.k.a. Batgirl)

*Producer Howie Horwitz made a fifteen-minute film featuring Batgirl and the Dynamic Duo battling the villain Killer Moth, in order to convince ABC that the addition of the new character would help the ratings; it worked, as the network bosses liked it and decided to give the show a third season; the featurette was never transmitted
