With Lampkin injured in a terrorist bomb explosion, Apollo decides to step in and assist with Baltar’s defence council, much to Admiral Adama’s displeasure. President Roslin experiences a strange dream in which she sees Hera, Athena and Caprica 6 in the halls of an opera house. Although there appears to be no sign of any Cylon pursuit, Admiral Adama remains suspicious, and he continues to station a ‘trailing Raptor’ behind the fleet to keep watch. President Roslin assigns Didi Cassidy as the council for the prosecution. Baltar continues to receive visits and letters from those who have come to see him as a messianic figure, capable of curing all ills; he attributes this behaviour to his forthcoming trial, but his vision of Number 6 thinks otherwise. The trial begins, the proceedings broadcast throughout the entire fleet. Cassidy makes a passionate opening speech, illustrating the number of deaths suffered under Baltar’s presidency and demanding that he pay the ultimate price for his crimes; the charismatic promptly Lampkin responds with a dramatic statement regarding his client’s innocence. Detecting the arrival of five Cylon baseships, the trailing raptor team sends a warning to the Galactica; Adama immediately orders a sweep of the fleet to search for tracking devices. Tigh questions Caprica 6, who surmises that her fellow Cylons are following the unique energy signature of the Colonials’ fuel ship. When Caprica 6 goes on to bait Tigh over the death of his wife, the colonel is shaken by the encounter and turns to the bottle; however, when he takes the witness stand drunk, Lampkin manipulates him into revealing that it was he who murdered Ellen. When Lampkin voices his belief that Apollo holds a secret that could change the outcome of the trial, Apollo’s integrity and faith in justice is called to account; he decides to expose President Roslin for taking drugs once more – but it is a decision that could cost Apollo his career, his friends and his marriage…
