During a press conference on the fleet’s fuel crisis, President Roslin experiences a snake-filled hallucination, a disturbing event which she attributes to a side effect of Chamalla, the experimental drug she is taking for her cancer. Elsewhere, Boomer and Crashdown discover a plentiful source of Tylium on a nearby asteroid, only to discover that the Cylons are already mining the fuel for their own use. When the two pilots return to the Galactica and report to Adama, the Commander decides to make a stand, hoping to take the Cylons by surprise and secure the Tylium for the fleet. Meanwhile, having learned that several priests have also experienced the effects of Chamalla, the President visits one of their number, Elosha; in astonishment, the priestess reveals that a renowned writer named Pythia once predicted that a president who had visions of snakes would go on to lead her people to victory. Adama seeks Baltar’s advice in locating the best place to attack the Cylons, but the scientist is distracted by Number 6’s attentions, and merely points at a random site. Adama then begins to plan his attack, sending his son Apollo to join the assault, but disappointing the injured Starbuck with the news that she will not be allowed to take part. Elsewhere, on Caprica, Helo and ‘Boomer’ continue to avoid the Cylons; however, Helo is unaware that ‘Boomer’ believes that she may now be pregnant. Back on the Galactica, Adama despatches decoy ships to distract the Cylons, hoping to increase the Vipers’ chances of successfully attacking their enemies’ base. But the Cylons fail to take the bait – and then launch a brutal counter attack against the Galactica's forces…
