The Doctor

Taking the newly-restored TARDIS on a test flight to the beautiful planet of Metebelis III, the Doctor and Jo instead arrive on a cargo ship, the SS Bernice, which is crossing the Earth's Indian Ocean in 1926. The ship is in fact trapped inside a Miniscope, an illegal peep show device which contains miniaturised life forms from across the universe trapped in time-loops, which is being used by the showman Vorg, and his assistant Shirna, on the planet Inter Minor. The Doctor and Jo escape into the scope's inner workings, and emerge in a swampland, confronted by vicious dragon-like Drashigs. The Doctor eventually breaks out of the Miniscope, and is restored to his full size, where he becomes involved in the machinations of two Inter Minorians, Kalik and Orum, who are planning to trick their superior, Pletrac, and overthrow the planet's president, Zarb, by allowing the Drashigs to escape and run riot. Vorg foils their plot by destroying the Drashigs with an Eradicator weapon, and the Doctor links the Minscope to the TARDIS, managing to free Jo, and return all the exhibits to their rightful places of origin.

Jon Pertwee (Dr. Who), Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Tenniel Evans (Major Daly), Ian Marter (John Andrews), Jenny McCracken (Claire Daly), Leslie Dwyer (Vorg), Cheryl Hall (Shirna), Peter Halliday (Pletrac), Michael Wisher (Kalik), Terence Lodge (Orum), Andrew Staines (Captain)

Notes:
*Featuring the Third Doctor and Jo

*First appearance of the Drashigs

*A rough cut of Part Two exists, which is approx. four minutes longer than the transmitted version, and which features the abandoned Delaware synthesiser arrangement of the theme music - a truly awful version that was thankfully never taken up for continual use
