'The Survivors' by Donald James

Austria: three students discover an old lorry full of crates in a lake in the Austrian Alps; later that night, they are shot dead as they lie in their tents. Called in by the Austrian authorities, Craig, Richard and Sharron hear stories of hidden gold, thought to have been secreted in the area by the Nazis years ago. They find a map that leads them to a mine in which a group of German soldiers were buried alive by the S.S., along with enough food to last a lifetime. But after meeting the sole survivor, the three Champions also become trapped in the tunnels…
