'The Discovery' by Daniel Postgate

All the Clangers are busy apart from Small, who is very bored; he decides to do some drawing on his blackboard, but is unhappy with his pictures of a Skymoo and a Froglet, and too embarrassed to show them their portraits. Small heads deep into the caves to have another try, but after drawing on a wall, he loses confidence and gives up. Later, Major goes into the deep caves to get some more moonflower oil, and finds Small’s picture; taking it for an ancient cave drawing, an excited Major tells everyone to come and see the wonderful picture he has found…
