'The Wols' by Daniel Postgate

Mother Wol needs to get some new things for her nest, so she leaves her three little Wols with the Iron Chicken to look after. The Wols prove quite a handful playing around in the Iron Chicken’s nest, so she calls Tiny for help. Tiny asks Small to give her a lift in the Music Boat, as he goes off to do some fishing in space, and together they arrive at the Iron Chicken’s nest, just as she and the Wols are playing Hide and Seek. But the little Wols change hiding place and sneak into the Music Boat, and when Small returns to the Clangers’ planet to retrieve his forgotten fishing rod, he gets quite a surprise to find the three stowaways…
