The Doctor

The TARDIS materialises at Gatwick airport 1966, in the path of an incoming jet plane. Polly hides in a hanger, and witnesses the murder of a detective, but then the murderer, Spencer, kidnaps her and Ben. The Doctor finds that there have been further disappearances, all of which were passengers on charter flights run by Chameleon Tours. The Doctor and Jamie, together with Samantha Briggs, sister of one of the missing passengers, discover that the kidnappers are in fact the Chameleons, and alien race that have lost their faces and identities in a nuclear explosion, and are subsequently dying out. The Chameleon's scientists have devised a way to take over the identity of human beings, in a process that takes four weeks. They have lured 50,000 passengers onto their aircraft, and then miniaturised them, holding them in a space station in orbit around the Earth. The Doctor frees the captives, and helps the Chameleons to find a way to survive. Ben and Polly remain behind on Earth.
