A day out with Fry and Bender at the Luna Park almost proves the end for Leela, when she nearly dies in an accident involving a fairground ride and Bender’s metal vomit. Realising that he cannot spend his life without Leela, Fry resolves to propose marriage to her the very next day. With the help of Bender and the Professor’s new Time Button - a device that can rewind time by ten seconds - Fry is able to swipe enough diamonds from a jewellery store to fashion a huge engagement ring for his beloved. When Fry pops the question over dinner Leela is overjoyed, and agrees to meet him later atop the Vampire State Building to give him her final answer. But when Fry makes the rendezvous Leela fails to show up; devastated, Fry throws himself off the building – but as he plummets to his death he sees Leela approaching. Realising that his watch is running fast due to his overuse of the Time Button, Fry activates the device to reset time – but his fall has taken longer than ten seconds, dooming him to stay trapped in an eternal time loop in order to stay alive. Meanwhile, the rest of the Planet Express gang have been able to protect themselves from the continual timeslips by cramming inside the Professor’s Time Shelter. Tracking the source of the time disturbance they arrive at the Vampire State Building just in time to see Fry drop the button and splat on the ground. Using the Time Button Leela saves Fry again and again and again… until she drops the device and Fry lands on it. With the button broken Fry and Leela find themselves the only people able to move, trapped in a world stuck in a single moment of time…
