As the ghosts play Bridge in the belfry, tempers flare between the phantom players. But when the box they are using as a table turns out to contain a magic box called a ‘Tatyama’, Sir George, Fanny and the White Lady become entranced with horse racing and cookery shows. Believing the box to be evil, Bodkin and Matt head downstairs; here they find another seven boxes, and two very shifty-looking crooks, Geoffrey and Ronald, who are using the deserted Motley Hall as a stash for their ill-gotten loot. When a policeman arrives looking for the stolen television sets, Sir George finds that the officer can actually see him – and Sir George comes under suspicion of committing the robbery instead of the real crooks…
