'A Man of Substance' by Charlie Higson |
A beautiful and enigmatic woman named Lauren Dee hires Jeff to look into the disappearance of her husband, who vanished somewhere in rural England. Together with Marty, the detective travels to a sleepy old village to begin his investigations, but something just doesn’t seem right… The village seems too perfect, its inhabitants are actually able see the ghostly Marty, and it is impossible to leave the village boundaries. Jeff soon discovers that he is involved in a ruse to lure Marty into the grip of a village that time has bypassed since the Middle Ages. Marty’s mentor Wyvern soon realises that the only way to save his protégé is to enlist the help of Jeannie…
