Lady Penelope's friend, the elderly Duchess of Royston, is swindled out of her wealth by some crooks at a casino in France. Penelope and Jeff Tracy decide to help the Duchess, and arrange to loan her valuable painting, ‘Portrait of a Gazelle’ by the artist Bricasso, to American businessman Wilbur Danbridge III of Gazelle Automatons in New York. But while en route to deliver the painting, the Duchess is kidnapped by ruthless crooks and imprisoned in a burning building...
