'Thunderbird 6'

by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson
Thunderbird 6

Brains designs a revolutionary lighter-than-air craft called Skyship One for the New World Aircraft Corporation. But when he decides to travel on the airship on its maiden voyage, he is forbidden by Jeff Tracy, who needs him to design a Thunderbird 6 for International rescue instead . While Brains begins planning the new rescue vehicle, Lady Penelope, Parker, Alan and Tin-Tin take his place on the airship as it makes its journey across the world, flying over such places as New York and the Grand Canyon before finally arriving in Switzerland. However, Penelope and the others are unaware that the crew have been murdered and replaced by a gang of criminals working for The Hood, as part of a scheme called Operation Ambush which will enable them to capture the Thunderbirds. The villains send out a fake distress call as they cause Skyship One to begin a collision course with a missile silo. It seems that only Thunderbird 6 will be able to save the day - but just what sort of aircraft is it?
