Thunderbirds Are Go Cast

While on an expedition to find alien life on Jupiter's moon Europa, nature documentarian Buddy Pendergast and his wife Ellie prepare to drill through the ten-mile thick ice crust to the ocean below; but their borer causes a huge fissure to open, and the two explorers and their mobile base fall into the watery depths. When International Rescue picks up their distress call, Scott decides to give Alan the chance to lead on a rescue mission. The delighted Alan takes Gordon with him, and together they fly into space in Thunderbird 3, with Thunderbird 4 secured in the cargo bag. Meanwhile, in the sea under Europa’s surface, Buddy and Ellie watch as their base breaks up in the strong currents caused by Jupiter’s gravitational pull; luckily their underwater rover is still intact, held fast in shards of ice, providing them with a safe haven and enough air to last for two weeks… Aboard Thunderbird 3, Alan passes the voyage by binge-watching the Pendegasts’ show, ‘Into the Unknown’, much to Gordon’s irritation. When they finally reach Jupiter, the Tracys home in on the explorers’ beacon. Avoiding the huge geysers blasting up through the surface of the moon, Alan manages to land the spaceship, only to find that the fissure has sealed up again in the extreme cold. Fortunately, Brains has had the foresight to modify Thunderbird 4 with skis and a heat bank, enabling Alan and Gordon to melt a bore hole down through the ice to reach the ocean. With only ten minutes before the bore hole reseals, International Rescue searches for the Pendergasts; but the currents send their sub smashing into chunks of ice, dislodging the heat bank. Finally locating the stricken explorers’ rover, Alan swims outside to attach Thunderbird 4’s manual docking tube, allowing the Pendergasts to safety board the rescue sub. With just three minutes left, Thunderbird 4 speeds back to the bore hole, but then Ellie’s detector suddenly shows signs of life nearby. Alan reluctantly agrees to investigate, and together they watch in awe as a school of alien creatures swim over the sub. Thunderbird 4 then heads back to the bore hole, only to discover it has resealed – trapping the rescue mission under the ice, with no way of melting their way free…
