John Croxley is a troubled man with the ability to read people’s minds; seeing his power as a curse rather than a blessing, Croxley visits psychiatrist Doctor Brünner, but the man can offer no help for his patient’s condition. Meanwhile, the personnel of S.H.A.D.O. headquarters detects a U.F.O. approaching Earth on an erratic trajectory; preparations are made to track the craft, but before a team can stop it the alien vessel crashes into Croxley’s home, killing his wife Stella, and injuring Colonel Paul Foster. When Croxley returns home he is shocked to find that his life has been shattered; after discovering Freeman in the wreckage, Croxley reads his mind and, on learning about S.H.A.D.O., he vows to take revenge on the organisation he holds responsible for the death of his wife…
