"After we evacuate, this facility will be like Chernobyl."

When a buried alien scout pod is unearthed at a U.S.A.F. geological site in Spirit Lake, Wisconsin, the craft is immediately taken to the nearby Air Force Experimental Nuclear Research Facility for investigation under secure conditions. Having learnt of the discovery, the Blackwood team waste no time in travelling to the base; their excitement at examining an intact alien craft increases when they find the body of the alien pilot frozen stiff inside the cockpit. Meanwhile, the Pentagon assigns the operation to ‘Project 9’, a shadow government that operates above the President; when its commander, Colonel Frederick Alexander, arrives with his troops, he pulls rank on Colonel Ironhorse and orders the spaceship to be opened. After attempts to use diamond-tipped drills and lasers prove fruitless, Norton proposes using Doctor Forrester’s notes on alien sound recordings; the plan is a success, and the pod opens in response to the signals. Alexander promptly begins work on dangerous experiments using DNA extracted from the alien corpse. However, the creature is far from dead – it soon awakes and goes on a killing spree…
