'Unto Us a Child is Born' by David Braff

"You're saying we have some kind of half-breed on our hands here?"

When three aliens disguised as workmen attempt to pump a biological weapon through the ventilation system of a shopping mall, the plan goes wrong, and they are interrupted by security staff. One of the aliens tries to evade capture by taking over the body of a young pregnant woman named Nancy Salvo, but the violent act of absorption causes the host body to go into labour. As their comrade is rushed to hospital, the other aliens contact the Advocacy for advice; their transmission is detected by Norton, who manages to trace the message to its point of origin. While Harrison and Ironhorse set off for the hospital, Nancy gives birth to a human-alien hybrid, but the division of her life force leaves her in badly weakened state. Learning of the existence of the mutant child, the Advocacy realise that it holds the key to their survival on Earth; they instruct the two soldiers to secure the child and bring it back for experimentation. Having found the mutilated body of Nancy’s husband, killed when the aliens retrieved their sick comrade, Harrison and Ironhorse learn of the existence of the hybrid baby. Meanwhile, the baby begins to grow at an accelerated rate and escapes from its cot; as both parties begin a search for the child, the hybrid creature brutally murders a nurse and then begins to stalk its pursuers…
