Mulder and Scully are sent to Trenton, New Jersey to assist with what appears to be a case of extremism, when an immigrant blows himself up with explosives on a busy street. While questioning Qasim Fayed’s wife and son, Mulder notices a photograph of the Hoia-Baciu forest from the Biharia Euroregion, a haunted place near to what used to be known as Transylvania. Returning to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Mulder and Scully are introduced by Deputy Director Skinner to Firas Ben-Brahim, a philanthropic billionaire who represents the Shyma Foundation, a major charity organisation for helping refugees to relocate - including Qasim Fayed, whose status had been reviewed by multiple federal agencies. Leaving the meeting, Mulder finds Fayed’s son Mohammed hiding in his car; the boy is a host for unknown forces – and he passes them on to Mulder…
