In Cuba, Gibson takes Scully to his secret hideout hidden within the high-security Guantanamo Bay prison, where she is shown his cloning factory. Mulder’s latest captors take him to meet their technician, who agrees to a deal that allows him to get a message to the Lone Gunmen. Unfortunately this draws the attention of the US government, and the three conspirators only just manage to escape from their base under Arlington Cemetery before it is stormed by armed soldiers. At FBI headquarters in Washington D.C., Deputy Director Walter Skinner confronts Assistant Director Ana Morales over her smear campaign on Mulder – only to learn that the X-Files Division is being outsourced to a mysterious company named Cantus. Back in Cuba, Scully is taken to meet with Mulder, arriving just in time to see the shed where he is being held captive blow up. Luckily Mulder is still alive, and he shadows Scully a she is taken back to Gibson’s lair. Here Scully takes an action that she never thought herself capable of, and Mulder seizes the opportunity to go on the run…
